MIGHTY HERO HOMES: BASE DESIGN

Our Story, Our Promise

Each base will be an aesthetically appealing development in the community and a model for cooperative living. Mighty Hero Homes will collaborate with local faith organizations, businesses, and civic organizations to initially meet each veteran’s physical needs (for home goods and necessities) and ultimately their relational needs through invitations to houses of worship, local events, meals, etc.

Base Amenities

Base amenities include a Commissary, “Flag Hill,” green space, commercial vegetable gardens (for local “Base-to-Table” service to restaurants and residents), K-9 Training and Foster Care services, Geriatric and Elderly Foster Care, Transportation Services, on-Base employment opportunities, in home laundry facilities, and space for special gatherings and fellowship opportunities. All Bases are fenced and guarded. Each base will be an aesthetically appealing development in the community and a model for cooperative living.

Commercial Gardens

Each Base will have geographic specific vegetable gardens for Base resident to plant, tend, harvest and sell to local restaurants and city residents.

Transportation

Full integration into the communities where Bases are built is essential to establishing a connection with the community. Each Base will have at least one imaged eight passenger van to transport Base Residents to doctor visits, jobs, church, social events, etc. Each Base van will be operated by trained, certified and paid Base residents.

Geriatric Foster Care

Aging in place and permanent housing means Base residents might need a little help from time to time. Mighty Hero Home Bases will provide Caregiver housing and the opportunity for one Caregiver to assist multiple Squadron residents with no travel or downtime.

K-9 Foster Care and Training

Base residents will receive training to provide foster care for injured or aged service dogs and/or provide training for companion dogs. Studies show that the responsibility to care for others is sometimes a driving reason to keep driving on.

Chaplaincy Services

Support for the whole person; mind, body and spirit, is essential and is a priority for our Base Chaplains. Many Base residents have experienced horrific experiences both at home and abroad and having someone to talk to 24/7, someone who is dedicated to the Base residents to which they are assigned, is a vital part of the wrap around services our Base residents receive.

Our Director of Chaplaincy Services has spent tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, was deployed to the Pentagon on 9/11, served at Walter Reed Medical Center and earned his Master's Degree and doctorate. He talks the talk and walks the walk.
